One of the modernizations made possible by the new Constitution, as adopted in Rome in July 2003 and finally approved in Prague2007, was the establishing of the Scientific Committee. This committee has to assist the Board in performing its task, defined in article 16.2 of the Constitution as "to ensure the continuity of the Federation's activities by analyzing the current situation and creating on the basis of that situation and of foreseeable economic, sociological and technological changes a strategy for the years to come". The main tasks of the Committee are, therefore, to explore scientific and technological developments in the domains of activity of the Federation, to make proposals on that basis to the Board and to assist the organizers of an Intersteno Congress in setting up a programme for the conferences. In Rome were nominated as members of the committee for a period of four years Mr. Gian Paolo Trivulzio (I), Mr. Boris Neubauer (D), Mr. Jaroslav Zaviacic,(CZ) Mr. Jorge Alberto Bravo (Ar) and Mr. Cees van Beurden (NL). Mr. Van Beurden was assigned as coordinator of the committee and in that capacity as member of the Board. From July 2013, till the next Congress in 2015 the composition of this Committee is as follows
